How is Eucalyptus Oil Made?
The organic essential eucalyptus oil is obtained by steam distillation from the fresh or dried leaves and twigs of the blue eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus). When we think of eucalyptus, we probably all think of the cute koalas that eat it almost exclusively. The natives of Australia already recognized the effects of eucalyptus. They treated fresh wounds by covering them with chewed eucalyptus leaves to help them heal.

What is Eucalyptus oil most commonly used for?
In natural medicine, organic eucalyptus oil is known as "cold oil". Its classical use is in formulations intended to loosen and clear mucus and secretions in the bronchial area. The organic eucalyptus oil is also said to support sinus infections, ear infections or larynx infections. It is also considered an effective treatment against various strains of bacteria (especially childhood impetigo, which causes large areas of eczema) and types of fungi that cause thrush, for example.
In cosmetics, the organic essential eucalyptus oil is mainly used as a fragrance in herbal and coniferous compositions and to perfume soaps, cleansers and room fragrances. The antibacterial properties can be easily integrated into products against impure skin. It is also found in insect repellent products (candles, room fragrances). However, most of us associate the smell of organic eucalyptus oil with fresh breath and oral hygiene. A large part of the worldwide production is therefore processed into oral care products (toothpaste, mouthwash) or for flavoring medicines.
Organic eucalyptus oil is generally not used for food preparation in the food industry. However, confectionery such as cold candies or liquor syrups can be flavored with the essential oil.
In aromatherapy, organic eucalyptus oil is used to increase concentration and motivation. It is designed to help overcome a feeling of tightness and lethargy. It also has an encouraging effect on headaches and nerve pain.
Organic eucalyptus oil goes well with Swiss pine oil, cajeput oil, lavandin oil, lavender oil, lemongrass oil, litsea cubeba oil, bay leaf oil, lemon oil, mint oil, peppermint oil, thyme oil, hyssop oil and lemon oil.
