How is Camphor oil made?

What is Camphor oil most commonly used for?

In naturopathy, organic camphor oil has traditionally been used as a circulatory and cold remedy because it is said to raise blood pressure and have an antiseptic effect. A few drops on a cloth handkerchief used to be applied to the nose to wake up unconscious people. Most of us still associate the smell of organic camphor oil with medicine. With strict caution (since camphor oil in too high doses has a toxic effect on nerves and liver) it is believed to clear the airways of mucus. The antispasmodic, circulation-promoting and muscle-relaxing effects of organic camphor oil are said to relieve cold symptoms such as headaches and body aches. Conceivable are inhalations, bath additives or an additive in creams that are applied to the bronchial chest.

This medicinal scent of camphor oil also explains its relatively rare use in the cosmetics industry. When diluted with base oils or alcohol, the organic camphor oil is an effective remedy for blemished, oily or inflamed skin with poor blood circulation.

In aromatherapy, organic camphor oil – when used very diluted – would stimulate and counteract exhaustion. Confusing thoughts that carry a mental imbalance must become clear again, so that overstimulation and lack of focus disappear.

Organic camphor oil goes well with bergamot, mandarin, orange, rosemary or sage.
